This Scripture Taught Me How to Become Powerful

I often tell people this important truth: although I serve with the spiritual gifts and the office the Lord has given me, I don’t live by them. Neither do I live by the gift itself. I live by faith.
You see, I serve God’s people with the gifts and offices given to me, but I don’t hear from God because I have a gift. The reason I hear God is because I am walking in faith. It is faith that connects you to God’s voice, not simply a gift or a title. Gifts are meant for service; faith is what allows you to believe and receive from God.
When God speaks to a Christian, He does not speak primarily through any gift. Rather, it is through faith that a person understands and obeys God’s voice. It is a common misconception to think, “Oh, it’s because you’re a prophet that you hear God.” No — scripture teaches us deeper than that.
The Bible says we all have unveiled faces, not just some. We all behold, as in a mirror, the glory of the Lord with unveiled faces through the Spirit of revelation (2 Corinthians 3:18). The mirror here refers to the scriptures. It is through the Spirit of revelation that our faces are unveiled to the truth. As we behold the glory of the Lord revealed in scripture, we are transformed into the same image we see.
For example, if the scripture reveals that you are healed, yet you appear sick, by faith you begin to change into that same image of healing. Likewise, if the scripture reveals prosperity, though you may currently be poor, you begin to be transformed into the testimony of God’s provision. This transformation is not about “prosperity gospel” or “healing gospel” alone; it is simply the gospel of Jesus and the revelation of truth that flows from it.
So don’t judge a Christian based on what you see externally. If you see someone who walks in wisdom, power, or prosperity, it’s because in the unveiled face through scripture and faith, they have seen Jesus as wisdom or power or provision. Because they saw it, believed it, and are working in it, you may say they are a “can man.” But truly, it is faith in the revealed word that makes the difference.
Walk in faith, behold the glory of the Lord in the scriptures daily, and allow transformation to take place within you. This is the sure way to become powerful in God.
